I say try to sell them for a few caps more than a vendor would buy them, but less than a vendor would sell them for.that way an other player can't buy serums from a player for 200, and sell them to a vendor for 500.
The Sims had soda vending machines and food kiosks like the McDonalds kiosk and Sims 2 had the electronics vending machine and I think they had a soda vending machine or two but don't remimber.
